Road accident kills 17 in southeastern Bangladesh

Bandarban, Bangladesh (BBN)- At least 17 people were killed and 35 others wounded as a bus plunged into a ravine in the country’s southeastern
Bandarban hill district on Saturday morning, police said. 
The accident took place around 8:00am (local time) when a Bandarban-bound bus carrying over 40 people from Thanchi bus stand and plunged into a gorge coming nearly six to seven kilometers from the upazila headquarters, a local police official said.
The official blamed poor visibility triggered by the dense fog for the accident.
Thirteen people died on the spot, he said, adding that the injured were rushed to Bandarban Sadar Hospital where four others succumbed to their injuries. 
Among the injured, 25 people, including the driver of the bus, were admitted to Bandarban Sadar Hospital where 10 others were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
