Road accident kills 31 in northern Bangladesh

Natore, Bangladesh (BBN) - At least 31 people were killed and as many injured as two buses collided head-on in the country’s northern Natore district on Monday, police said.

The accident took place at Rejur Intersection on the Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway at Boraigram upazila of Natore around 3:30pm (local time), a local government official confirmed.

He also said that the collision happened between a Dhaka-bound bus of Keya Paribahan from Rajshahi and a Gurudashpur-bound bus of Othoi Paribahan from Natore.

The injured were sent to different hospitals including Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, a police official said.

Meanwhile, a three-member body headed by additional district magistrate of Natore has been formed to investigate the accident.

The fact-finding body has also been asked to submit its report in three to four days.
