Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Five people including three students were killed when a bus ploughed through passengers of another bus just after they got down from the vehicle in the country’s central Madaripur district on Saturday, police said.

The accident took place at Bandarkhola area under Shibchar upazila  of the district around 9:30am, a local senior police officer confirmed.

Of the deceased, two persons died on the spot while the rest at Shibchar Upazila Health Complex.

As the news spread, local people put barricade demanding speed breaker at the scene, halting traffic movement for around five hours on the Dhaka-Kawrakandi-Khulna highway.

They also vandalised more than 50 vehicles which got stuck on the highway following the blockade, according to reports.
