Natore, Bangladesh (BBN) - Five schoolboys were killed and 13 others wounded as a bus rammed two human haulers in the country’s northern Natore district on Tuesday, police said.
The accident occurred at around 12:30pm on the Natore-Pabna Highway at  Gorhmati Botdhor area under Borhaigram upazila (sub-district) in the northern district, a local police official said, adding that three of the youths died on the spot while the rest two died at local clinic.
Quoting witnesses police said the human hauler joined a procession brought out to celebrate the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr by a group of local youths.
Nearly 20 school students of a Kushtia school hired two human haulers to visit the Natore Maharaja's Palace, a historic site, during their Eid holiday, the police official added.
When their vehicles reached in Garmati area, a Kushtia-bound rashly driven BRTC bus hit the human haulers one after another from behind, forcing the vehicles to fall into a roadside ditch, he noted.
Police seized the bus, while its driver and helper managed to flee the scene immediately after the accident.
