Barisal, Bangladesh (BBN)– At least seven people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus ploughed through a crowd at a local bazaar on Barisal-Dhaka highway in the country’s southern Barisal district on Friday, police said.
 
The accident occurred when the driver of Hanif Paribahan bus lost control over the steering and hit the crowd at the busy roadside in Wazirpur upazila (sub-district) around 6:30pm (local time).
 
Five people — mostly rickshaw-van drivers and small traders at the market — died on the spot while two succumbed to their injuries at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, according to reports.
