Jessore, Bangladesh (BBN)– At least ten people were killed and 16 others injured as a passenger bus hit a roadside tree in the country’s southwestern Jessore district on Tuesday morning, police said.

A Jessore-bound bus hit a roadside tree at Jhikargacha upazila (sub-district) after its driver had lost control over the steering around 6:30am (local time), a local police official confirmed.

Six passengers of the bus died on the spot while four succumbed to their injuries at Jhikorgachha Upazila Health Complex and Jessore Medical College and Hospital, the official said, adding that the deceased were mostly from Comilla, Kishoreganj and Demra of Dhaka.
 
The injured were admitted to local hospital.
