Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Some 18,500 people are killed in road accidents every year in Bangladesh that also leave about 400000 people maimed causing a burden on the nation.
Another 20,600 people, including 17,000 children, die in river transport accidents across the country every year.
The figures of unnatural deaths were revealed in a keynote paper by Deputy Program Manager of Health Directorate Mohammad Zafrullaha presented at the inaugural function of the Global Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 held at a local hotel on Wednesday, according to reports.
