Road accidents kill nine in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - At least nine people were killed and more than 20 others injured in road accidents in different parts of Bangladesh on Thursday.

A young man was killed in a road accident at Shyampur area in the capital Dhaka.

Two motorcyclists died and 10 people were injured in a road accident at Falchatia on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Shibalaya upazila under Manikganj district.

In Chittagong, a minor boy was killed and two people were injured in a road accident at Kumira on Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

Highway police said a minor boy died on the spot and two others were injured when a Chitaggong-bound bus collided with an auto-rickshaw in front of KDS Factory Thursday noon.

In Sylhet, three tourists were killed and 15 others injured when a human hauler, locally known as Carry Cab, and a truck collided on Sylhet-Tamabil Highway near Jointia Degree College at about 1.0pm (local time).

Outraged by the accident, locals blocked the highway near the college, disrupting traffic from 1pm to 3:30pm. Later, police with the help of local elite removed the barricade.

Two people were killed in separate road crashes at Srinagar upazila in Munshiganj district, police said.
