Road crash kills four in southwestern Bangladesh

Jhenidah, Bangladesh (BBN)- Four people were killed and 13 others wounded as a bus carrying pilgrims from Biswa Ijtema fell into a roadside ditch in the country’s southwestern Jhenidah district early Monday, police said.

A Khulna-bound bus carrying 52 devotees from Biswa Ijtema fell into a ditch after hitting a rain tree near Raghunathpur Bus Station around 4:30am (local time), killing three people on the spot, a local police official said.

Another succumbed to his injuries at Jessore Sadar Hospital later.

The 13 injured passengers were admitted to Jhenidah and Jessore sadar hospitals.

The devotees were returning home after joining the Akheri Munajat of the second phase of three-day Biswa Ijtema held on the bank of the river Turag at Tongi on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka on Sunday.
