Road crashes kill nine people in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - At least nine people were killed and 26 others wounded in two separate road accidents in two districts –Gopalganj and Chittagong –of Bangladesh on Friday, police said.
A goods-laden truck ploughed into a crowd in Gopalganj Sadar upazila, killing five persons and injuring 20, a local police official said, adding that the accident took place around 4:30pm (local time) when the vehicle went out of control after one of its tyres punctured.
The injured were admitted to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital.
In Chittagong, four people were killed and six others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Shitalpur in Shitakund upazila.
Police and witnesses said a Shitakund bound human-hauler from Chittagong town collided head-on with a covered van leaving 10 passengers including the driver of the three-wheeler injured at about 2:00 pm (local time).
Four of the injured succumbed to their wounds on way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, according to reports.
