Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Telecom operator Robi has launched an initiative "Robi Experiential Program (REP)" for Bangladeshi youths to provide them an opportunity of rigorous corporate grooming to develop their leadership skills.
Under the program, the country's graduates will get a chance of gathering practical knowledge and skills at Robi for one year and then can contribute to advance Bangladesh and ultimately the Asia, officials said.
Nurul Islam Nahid, Education Minister, was the chief guest while Professor AK Azad Chowdhury, Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC), was the special guest at the launching ceremony held at a city hotel on Saturday.
The function was addressed, among others, by Robi managing director and CEO Michael Kuehner and its chief human resources officer Matiul Islam Nowshad. Eminent academicians from the country's leading business and engineering universities also attended the ceremony.
A number of graduates will be selected each year for REP through a test following some standards, Robi officials said, adding that they wanted to continue the program for years.
Robi Axiata Limited launched the program in Bangladesh in line with its Malaysia-based parent company Axiata Berhad.
Bangladesh, a major focus of Axiata's operation branded Robi, has enormous source of human capital—30million students under 115,000 institutions. Initially Robi targeted graduates and will be producing world class professionals that would contribute to advancing Bangladesh, eventually contributing to "Advancing Asia".
