Mumbai, India (BBN)-The rupee edged higher by 7 paise to 68.09 against the US dollar at the forex market in early trade Tuesday on fresh selling of the American currency by exporters.
Besides, the dollar’s weakness against some currencies overseas and early gains in the domestic equity market supported the rupee, dealers said, reports The Hindu Business Line quoting PTI.
Yesterday, the rupee had lost 3 paise to close at 68.16 against the American currency on the back of sustained dollar demand from importers amid a fall in domestic equities.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex was up 260.79 points, or 1.01 per cent, at 26,025.93 in early trade.
