Last updated: May 12, 2015

Mumbai, India (BBN)-The rupee depreciated 30 paise to 64.15 against the dollar in early trade on Tuesday on the Interbank Foreign Exchange as the American currency firmed up overseas.

Besides, increased demand for the dollar from importers and a lower opening in the domestic equity market weighed on the rupee, forex dealers said, reports PTI.

The rupee had ended higher by 9 paise at 63.85 against the American currency in yesterday's trade on persistent selling of dollars by banks and exporters on hopes of resumption in foreign fund inflows amid rise in equity market.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell 261.62 points, or 0.95%, at 27,245.68 in early trade today.
