Canberra, Australia (BBN)-South Africa has created record becoming the first team who consecutively scored 400+ runs in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 tournament.
The Protease made the history Tuesday scoring 411 runs losing four wickets in 50 overs against Ireland in the 24th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Canberra.
Earlier on February 27, South Africa scored 408 against West Indies at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Australia.
Rilee Rossouw and David Miller remained unbeaten at their Pool B match.
Earlier, the personal 159 of Hashim Amla and 109 of Faf du Plessis gave the Protease a firm foundation to score a big total at Manuka Oval in Australia.
Aiming the big score, South Africa earlier lost Quinton de Kock followed by Faf du Plessis, Hashim Amla and Captain AB de Villiers.
Prior to beginning of today’s match, South Africa skipper AB de Villiers won the toss and opted to send his unchanged side in to bat first.
Ireland are unbeaten after their first two matches at the World Cup but will have their work cut out to upset a South African side who rebounded from defeat to India with a savaging of West Indies last week.
De Villiers comes into the match in a rich vein of form after smashing West Indies for 162 in 66 balls at the Sydney Cricket Ground last Friday and will be relishing the chance to bat at a ground where Chris Gayle hit a record 215 last Tuesday.
The Irish made one change to the side that beat United Arab Emirates by two wickets in their last outing, bringing off-spinner Andy McBrine back in for paceman Alex Cusack to restore the line-up that stunned West Indies in their opener.
