Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The 12th SAARC Payment Council (SPC) meeting is set to be held in the capital Dhaka on Sunday with an idea of cooperation among the member countries, especially in the area of legal and regulatory reforms, oversight policy and framework and infrastructural development of payment systems.
Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country’s central bank, will host the event to be held at Sonargaon Hotel where central bank officials from the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries – Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and host Bangladesh will take part.
BB Governor Dr Atiur Rahman will inaugurate the conference, a central bank press statement said on Saturday.
SAARC Payments Initiative (SPI) is a regional payment group formed by member central banks/monetary authorities of the SAARC FINANCE Group to help each other to reform national payment and settlement systems (PSS) individually and regional PSS collectively.
