Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The law enforcement officials detained Salman F Rahman, the former adviser to recently ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Anisul Huq, the former law minister, from the Sadarghat area in the capital today.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mainul Hasan confirmed the arrests, stating that they were apprehended in connection with an ongoing case filed at New Market Police Station.
According to sources, authorities acted swiftly on a tip-off suggesting that Rahman and Huq were attempting to escape the capital via the waterways.
A targeted operation was conducted at Sadarghat, the busiest ferry terminal in Bangladesh, where both individuals were successfully apprehended before they could flee.
This arrest marks a pivotal moment after the interim government, under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus, took helm of Bangladesh.
