Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Salman Zaheer has been made the acting country director of World Bank for Bangladesh.
Zaheer, an Indian citizen, will take up the charge from February 1 as the three-year tenure of outgoing WB Country Director Ellen Goldstein expires at 31 January, a press statement said on Saturday.
Zaheer, cooperation director of the WB’s South Asian Region, will discharge the duty until the appointment of a new country director. The appointment of the new country director will be take place this year.
The tenure of WB Country Director Ellen Goldstein, who joined the Bank’s Dhaka office in November 2009, will expire on January 31.
