Seoul, South Korea (BBN)-Samsung describes the new tablet – available in 9.7in and 8in formats – as the “most immersive” it’s built to date.
At just 5.6mm thin and only 389g (9.7 -inch) and 265g (8.0 -inch) weight, the Galaxy Tab S2 is perfectly designed for reading and consuming content due to its stunning Super AMOLED Display, reports the Rapid News Network.
A built-in advanced security sensor now offers easy access to the personal device with a simple press against the home key. It is also pre-installed with anti-malware for an extra layer of protection.
Connectivity options include of Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n support, but the tablet lacks SIM card support.
By recreating the same viewing experience of browsing through traditional print media, the Galaxy Tab S2 makes it comfortable to read digital content, including e-books, magazines, webpages and newsfeeds.
Samsung’s S Pen is typically reserved for the company’s high-end Note family.
Thinness and lightness on their own could be rejected as gimmicks, but the tablet market is maturing and as a result slowing down, and companies like Samsung and Apple are realising that in order to get consumers to upgrade, their new products have to be innovative.
However, there are other claimants to the title of the “thinnest and lightest tablet”, namely Apple iPad Air 3 and Microsoft Surface Pro 4.
Samsung has not released many phones and tablets this year, Apart from its Galaxy S6 flagship lineup which released in March.
The 8-inch version weighs 256 grams while the 9.7-inch version weighs 389 grams.

Borrowing a selling point from the upcoming iOS 9 split-screen feature for the iPad, the new Samsung tablet has the dual-app Pop-Up Window feature that lets users jump between multiple applications at once. Samsung has finally made the Galaxy Tab A Plus official and is listed on the Samsung’s Belgium-France website.
It will come with the 8-core chip of the South Korean giant, fingerprint scanner and to run at 1.9GHz and 1.3GHz.
