Chittagong, Bangladesh (BBN)– A School Banking Fair was held at Waziullah Institute in Chittagong on Saturday to increase savings habits and creating awareness on banking services among school students.
Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) S K Sur Chowdhury inaugurated the fair as chief guest while Abdul Hamid Miah, Managing Director and CEO of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) presided over the inaugural ceremony.
The fair was held as a part of financial inclusion programme of the central bank of Bangladesh aiming to bring more un-banked people into the banking network from across the country.
Deputy Managing Director of IBBL Abu Reza Md. Yeahia and Mohammad Munirul Mowla were present in the ptogramme, according to a press statement.
All schedule banks in Chittagong region took part in the fair organized by the assistance of Central Bank. Agrabad Corporate Branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited acted as lead bank of the fair.
Quiz competition, video show on banking services, stall exhibition, and procession ware arranged by IBBL Agrabad Branch.
All the 57 Banks participated in the fair. The slogan of the fair was ‘Let us study, make deposit and build life’.
Some 550 students from 55 educational institutions form Chittagong region attended the fair, it added.
