Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will launch its own surveillance software on Monday aiming to detect manipulative stock trading in the secondary market.

Currently, the regulator watches over stock trading manually with the help of the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges.

“After the launch of the software, the SEC will oversee the markets in an integrated and comprehensive way,” a SEC senior official said, adding that the software will be linked with the trading servers of the Dhaka and Chittagong bourses.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith will inaugurate the software.

The installation and implementation of the surveillance software within the SEC was also a condition of the ADB for releasing $300 million as assistance under the second phase of capital market development program of the donor agency.
