Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The Securities and Exchange Commission has decided not to allow stock brokerage houses to set up branches outside the divisional cities.

The Commission has also decided to send securities that have been listed in the Z category for two consecutive years to the over-the-counter market, a platform of junk share trading, officials said.

The SEC has taken the decisions aiming to control the overheated market, Anwarul Kabir Bhuiyan, SEC executive director, said.

He also said the SEC and Dhaka Stock Exchange will jointly operate the monitoring operation from Tuesday, the New Age, a local newspaper, reported.
