SEC to announce capital market package Tuesday afternoon

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The Securities and Exchange Commission is likely to announce a complete package Tuesday afternoon to bring back stability in the stock market, a SEC member said.

SEC Member Professor Helal Uddin Nizami reportedly said that the press briefing will be held on Tuesday afternoon at the SEC to unveil the package.

“The regulator will make announcement on the proposed package and highlight the developments of several meetings held with the stakeholders,” he added.

The package is likely to include, among others, reduction or waiver of tax on the income of institutional and foreign investors’ investment in the secondary market, according to reports.
