Security guard dies in Dhaka high-rise fire

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- A security guard was killed as a fire broke out at a high-rise commercial building in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, early hours of Monday.

Ebadat Hossain, 45, the security guard of 16-storey Paramount Heights building, died of suffocation after inhaling smoke caused by the fire, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital sources told the BBN.
The fire originated perhapes from an electric shot circuit in the building, which houses more than 50 offices, around 1:00am, said the Fire Fighter and Civil Defence officials.
A number of fire units worked for nearly two hours to douse the blaze.
After the flame was doused around 3:00am, the fire fighters recovered the body of Hossain from the 13th floor of the building.
He was rushed to the hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.
