Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Some 10,000 additional uniformed police will be deployed in Dhaka ahead of Sunday’s countrywide dawn-to-dusk strike called by small Islamic parties protesting an anti-Islam film produced in the USA.
The uniformed police will be deployed from 5:00 am on Sunday and they will remain on alert to avert any unpleasant incident centering the strike, generally known as hartal, local media reported quoting a senior police official.
Besides, plainclothes police will remain on vigil with videos and still cameras at different strategic city points so that the troublemakers can be identified scrutinizing the video footage.
The police official said the law enforcers have been instructed to maintain peace at any cost in the capital so that the city dwellers do not face any hurdle in their routine works.
General Secretary of Sammilito Olema Mashayekh Parishad Jafar Ullah Khan and like-minded 12-party alliance called the shutdown while addressing a rally in front of the National Press Club on Saturday in protest against the anti-Prophet movie.
The movie, titled ‘Innocence of Muslims’, has triggered violent protests around the Muslim world.
