Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – US Special Representative for International Labor Affairs Barbara Shailor arrived in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday for a two-day trip to learn about labor issues in sectors across Bangladesh’s formal economy.
Barbara Shailor was appointed Special Representative for International Labor Affairs on May 9, 2010, a US embassy press statement said. 
Ms. Shailor leads the Department’s effort to promote workers’ rights, liaise with the global labor movement, and focus on strengthening the labor function U.S. embassies across the world.  
She is responsible for issues involving international labor affairs and the impact of American foreign policy and programs on international labor rights and living standards.  
Ms. Shailor is internationally recognized for her lifelong work to secure economic, social, and political rights for workers in the United States and throughout the world.
