New Delhi, India (BBN)– The BSE benchmark Sensex came off the intraday low levels and jumped over 100 points in the noon deals on the back of buying in IT, capital goods and metal stocks.
The 50-share Nifty was trading above its psychological level of 8,400 led by gains in Infosys, Larsen & Toubro and Bharti Airtel, reports NDTV.
Earlier in the day, the Sensex was trading on a subdued note after two days of up move on the back of mild profit-booking.
Meanwhile, the broader markets were seen outperforming the benchmark indices. The BSE mid-cap index advanced 0.5 per cent and the small-cap index gained 0.8 per cent.
From the Nifty-50 basket of stocks 31 stocks were advancing while 19 were declining.
Vedanta was the top Nifty gainer. The stock jumped over 3 per cent to Rs 218 after Goldman Sachs maintained its buy rating on Vedanta with a target price of Rs 250 per share.
Hero MotoCorp, UltrTech Cement, Zee Entertainment, Wipro, Tata Power, Idea Cellular, Infosys, Yes Bank, NTPC and Bank of Baroda were also among the gainers, up 1-2 per cent each.
As of 1:00 p.m., the Sensex was up 103 points at 27,790 and the Nifty gained 32 points to 8,406 levels.
