New Delhi, India (BBN)-The Sensex and Nifty are likely to open on a weak note in trades on Thursday tracking subdued trading on the Nifty which is traded on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
The SGX Nifty was down 10 points or 0.13 per cent at 8,247, reports NDTV.
Meanwhile, among the Asian markets, Hong Kong retreated on profit-taking Tuesday after a near-15 percent rise over eight days, while Tokyo was hurt by a stronger yen as Asian investors await the release of key data later in the week.
The tepid performance among most Asian markets follows losses on Wall Street as US investors prepare for the corporate earnings season to get under way.
Overnight, Wall Street's major indexes gave up early gains to end Wednesday's session little changed as some investors stood on the sidelines waiting for the next round of economic data at the tail end of earnings season.
US retail sales were unchanged in April as households cut back on purchases of cars and other big-ticket items and import prices fell for a 10th straight month in April and business inventories barely rose in March.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 7.574 points, or 0.04 per cent, to 18,060.49, the S&P 500 lost 0.64 points, or 0.03 per cent, to 2,098.47 and the Nasdaq Composite added 5.50 points, or 0.11 per cent, to 4,981.69.
