Chennai, India (BBN) - The Sensex and the Nifty opened higher on Thursday led by buying in stocks of telecom, energy, capital goods and oil and gas sectors.
The Sensex opened 69 points higher at 32,829.82 against the previous close of 32,760.44. At about 9.30 am, the Sensex was trading 142.32 points or 0.43 per cent higher at 32,907.24, reports The Hindu Business Line.
Similarly, the NSE was up 0.42 per cent or 43 points at 10,161.05.
GAINERS AND LOSERS IN EARLY TRADE
Reliance rose 1.85 per cent, Tata Motors 1.49 per cent, Bharti Airtel 1.18 per cent, L&T 1.20 per cent and ONGC 1.10 per cent on the BSE.
Coal India was down 1.21 per cent, Adani Ports 0.90 per cent, Hero MotoCorp 0.58 per cent, PowerGrid 0.53 per cent, and TCS 0.49 per cent.
Meanwhile, Asian shares got off to a cautious start on Thursday after Wall Street stumbled despite upbeat U.S. economic news and the Treasury yield curve hit its flattest in a decade as investors priced in more U.S. rate hikes.
