Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has halved the charges on mobile banking for expansion of the service across the country quickly, officials said.
 
The charge on mobile banking came down to 1.0 percent from the existing 2.0 per cent, which will come into effect from December 1 this year, according to the telecom regulator’s notification. 
 
Almost 1.0 million subscribers have been brought under mobile technology-based financial services and transaction worth around BDT 10 billion each month, according to the central bank statistics.
 
Currently, four banks are providing the mobile banking service using platform of mobile operators. Of them Bkash of the Brac Bank and Dutch Bangla Bank are well known for the service while remaining two– Trust Bank Ltd and Mutual Trust Bank Ltd are working in rudimentary level.
