Shahed, Elias re-elected DRU president, gen secy

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Shahed Chowdhury of the Daily Samakal and Elias Khan of the daily Amar Desh were re-elected president and general secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Saturday.  

Shahed Chief bagged 738 votes while his rival Azmal Huq Helal got 237. Elias polled 543 while his rival Sheikh Mamun obtained 413. 

Chief Election Commissioner Golam Sarwar announced the results.

Of the other office bearers, Rafiqul Azad of the daily Independent was elected vice president while Shariful Islam as joint secretary and Morsalin Nomani as organising secretary.
