Shakib’s overseas cricket leagues embargo to go, if he pleas

Last updated: November 11, 2014

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Ban on Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s playing overseas cricket leagues will be lifted if he appeals, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon said Tuesday.

"The cricket board is happy with Shakib’s performance and that is why will remove the ban on playing overseas cricket leagues, if he appeals," the BCB chief told reporters.
The BCB on July put the embargo on playing foreign cricket leagues for Shakib till December 31, 2015 on disciplinary issues.
On the same date, the BCB also banned Shakib from participating in any cricket match in home on the same ground.
But on August 26, the BCB commuted his ban to two and a half months that promoted Shakib to join the home series against Zimbabwe.
In the series, Shakib made history by becoming the third man, after Imran Khan and Ian Botham, to have scored a century and obtained 10 wickets in a Test match – the achievement that made the BCB happy.
