Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Social Islami Bank Limited (SIBL) has launched a special deposit product 'Shukher Thikana', specially designed for the female workers of the garments factories. However, other lower and mid-level income groups and people working in hazardous conditions may avail of this product.
The product has insurance coverage for the depositors during the tenure of the deposit scheme against personal accident or accident at work place like injuries in fire, damage or loss of body parts, accidents in roads etc.
The product was launched at Riverside Sweaters Ltd at Hasnabad in the city at a simple ceremony on Tuesday attended by the garments factory workers, entrepreneurs where the Managing Director of the Bank Muhammad Ali was present as the chief guest and launched the product by handing over a 'Shukher Thikana' account to female RMG workers.
Insurance compensation under the product shall range between BDT 10,000 to BDT 50,000 irrespective of the size of the amount of the scheme deposit, depending on the extent of injury/loss of body parts/complete inability to work and death.
