Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Social Islami Bank Ltd popularly known as SIBL is highlighting its Swapner Thikana product at the Banking Fair Bangladesh-2015 to include apparel workers in banking system by opening accounts.
The SIBL has recently introduced the product to facilitate the ready-made garment workers of Bangladesh, SIBL Deputy Managing Director AMM Farhad told the BBN on Tuesday after inauguration of the fair.
The five-day long fair began on the Bangla Academy premises in Dhaka on Tuesday aiming to build a banking nation.
The garment workers, who will avail the service of the product will also come under the insurance coverage, he elaborated to the BBN.
“If any worker avail the facility of the product and be the subject of an industrial accident, he or she will be able to avail the insurance facility,” he explained.
Under the scheme, the garment workers will be allowed to open deposit pension scheme (DPS) paying a monthly amount of BDT 100.
The workers will be able to open the scheme for three-year, five-year and 10-year term.
The scheme will be operated in line with Islami Shariah based banking.
“This product will help to speed up the ongoing financial inclusion as I hope that significant number of garment workers will open accounts with our bank,” he said.
Besides, the bank will keep attention to inform the common people about all types of banking services during the fair so that more people will attach with the banking services, Mr Farhad added.
