Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – United Bank Ltd (UBL) Dubai has disbursed US$ 16 million as term loan to six Bangladeshi private commercial banks (PCBs) for their offshore banking units.
The local banks are Dhaka Bank Ltd, Eastern Bank Ltd, IFIC Bank Ltd, Mutual Trust Bank Ltd, Prime Bank Ltd and The City Bank Ltd.
Earlier, an agreement was signed to this effect in Dhaka last month between UBL and beneficiary banks. Senior executives from UBL and the borrowing banks were present on the occasion. Eastern Bank Ltd. played the role of coordinator of the deal.
Eastern Bank Ltd coordinated the loan deal and appreciated UBL’s support in providing US Dollar loan to the local banks’ offshore banking units.
