Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The half yearly Managers’ Conference 2011 of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL) was held at a city hotel on Friday.

The Chief Guest and Chairman of the Board Anwer Hossain Khan spoke on the occasion and asked the bankers to increase their efficiency and ensure best of services to the clients. He suggested the bankers to contribute in the national economy by creating new entrepreneurs as well as other business.

Mentioning the country’s existing loan default culture, he urged the bankers to be more careful in selecting borrowers.

Managing Director Abdur Rahman Sarker emphasized on the accelerated growth and sustainable development of the Bank with concurrent consolidation thereof. He gave necessary guidelines to the Officials and Branch Managers towards strengthening the financial base of the Bank. He also advised the participants to be more sincere and dynamic to increase overall business including import & export.

He informed that as on 30th June 2011, total deposit of the bank stood at Tk 76.46 billion, while investment, import and export businesses stood at Tk 70.05 billion, Tk 38.37 billion and Tk 37.62 billion respectively.

The meeting evaluated the performance of last six months and adopted. necessary strategy and action plan to achieve the target for the current year. Divisional Heads of Head Office, Managers of 63 branches and head of Offshore and SME Units took part in the discussion.
