SK Sinha takes oath as Bangladesh's 21st CJ

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Newly appointed Chief Justice of Bangladesh Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha took oath on Saturday.
He is the 21st Chief Justice of Bangladesh. Mr Sinha replaced Justice Md Muzammel Hossain, who retired on January 16.
President Abdul Hamid administered the oath to Mr Sinha, popularly known as SK Sinha, at the Darbar Hall of Banga Bhaban at 11.05am.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker of Parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, immediate past Chief Justice M Muzammel Hossain, former chief justices, cabinet members, Opposition Leader Rawshan Ershad, advisers to the prime minister, state ministers, Supreme Court judges, attorney general, senior lawyers, Chief Election Commissioner, chiefs of the three services, among others, were present at the oath taking ceremony.
Mr Sinha will retain office until January 31, 2018.
President Abdul Hamid appointed SK Sinha as the chief justice on January 12.
