Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The 4th SME Fair-2009, organized by Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCCI), begins at Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Center in Dhaka on Sunday.
The main objective of the fair is to introduce the products of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of Bangladesh to the local and foreign businessmen, buyers and consumers, organizers said.
Commerce Minister Lt Col (retd) Faruk Khan is expected to formally inaugurate the four-day fair Sunday. Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khalil Bin Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al-Khonji will join the inaugural session as special guest.
On the occasion, the FBCCI has decided to distribute FBCCI-Standard Chartered SME Awards-2009 among the entrepreneurs in seven categories considering their contributions to different areas.
President Zillur Rahman will handover the awards to the winners on the concluding day. The award carries US$ 500 each and a crest.
Under Medium Enterprise category, the award will be offered to the best medium enterprise and the nominations will be based on an effective management style and the quality of products/services they provide.
Besides, awards will be given to the best enterprise in terms of management, standard and production system which will be based on contribution to the national economy and to the best woman entrepreneur.
The FBCCI officials said there would be 94 stalls in the fair with 12 pavilions. A media center has also been set up in the fair venue so that media people can file reports from the center and dispatch those to their respective offices through the Internet.
