Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The 9th South Asia Economic Summit (SAES IX) begins on Saturday in Dhaka to give a further boost to the ongoing efforts for strengthening regional cooperation, connectivity and trade among South Asian countries.
President Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the summit at Hotel Le Meridian at 2:30 pm (local time) when International Affairs Adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Dr Gowher Rizvi will be the special guest.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will address the concluding session of the two-day summit on Sunday.
Over 100 speakers from the South Asia region will participate in the four plenary and nine parallel sessions of the summit aiming at 'Reimaging South Asia in 2030.
Centre for Policy Development (CPD) in collaboration with four other regional think tanks - Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), India, South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE), Nepal, Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), Pakistan and the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS) - is hosting the summit.
