Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited (PGCB) has initiated a project to construct 300 km high voltage 132 kV transmission lines in greter Chittagong, Mymensingh, Brahmanbaria and Sylhet areas to improve power situation in Bangladesh.

Spanish origin Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, SA, has been engaged for the construction work on turnkey basis, officials said, adding that the project involves Tk 3,980 million.

In this connection, a contract was signed between PGCB and Cobra in the city recently.

Company Secretary of PGCB Md Ashraf Hossain and Director (Asia) of Cobra M Baraswain signed the contract on behalf of their respective organisations.

Asian Development Bank, Bangladesh government and PGCB have been financing the development project.

Under the project, 91 km lines between Chandraghona-Rangamati-Khagrachhari, 106 km lines between Mymensingh-Tangile, 60 km lines between Brahmanbaria-Narsingdi and 60 km lines between Shatak-Sunamganj will be constructed. Managing Director Masun-Al-Beruni of PGCB was present on the occasion, among others.
