Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Stocks closed lower on the country’s two bourses with turnover value shrinkage further on Sunday as investors’ lost confidence to the market.

The benchmark general index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 4,136.86 points, losing 30.19 points or 0.72 per cent.

Turnover on the country’s premier bourse— DSE dropped 30.26 per cent to BDT 1.06 billion against BDT 1.52 billion in the previous session.

Of the 267 companies and mutual funds were traded on the premier bourse, 66 issues increased, 167 decreased and 34 remained unchanged.

United Airways topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 83.65 million changing hands.

Fourth ICB was the day’s highest gainer posting a rise of 9.24 per cent while Pragati Life Insurance was the worst loser, slumping by 4.41 per cent.

 The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed lower with the Selective Category Index of the CSE declined 33.39 points to close at 8,045.59 points.

Losers beat gainers 110 to 34 with 16 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse with BDT 137.29 million in turnover.
