Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The country’s two bourses — Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) edged higher Sunday amid significant improvement in turnover value.

The DSE general index, DGEN ended at 4,348.65 points, gaining 30.46 points or 0.70 per cent.

Turnover on the premier bourse—DSE crossed BDT 4.0 billion mark after three-month to BDT 4.18 billion, up by 25.90 per cent from previous session since October 17, last year.

Of the 275 companies and mutual fund units traded on the premier bourse, among them 214 advanced, 41 declined and 20 remained unchanged.

United Airways dominated the day’s top turnover chart with shares worth BDT 314.84 million changing hands.

Summit Purbanchol Power Company was the day’s highest gainer posting a rise of 10.28 per cent while Gemini Sea Food was the day’s worst loser, plunging by 8.74 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange also closed higher with the CSE Selective Category Index, CSCX ended at 8,453.78 points, adding 113.32 points.

Gainers beat losers 152 to 22 with 14 issues remaining unchanged on the port city bourse with turnover value of BDT 493.63 million.
