Stocks end higher for second day

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Dhaka stocks and Chittagong stocks ended higher for the second running session on Thursday with improving turnover value.

The benchmark general index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) ended at 4,167.06 points, adding 34.37 points or 0.83 per cent as market closed the session showing upward tendency.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange also closed higher with the Selective Category Index of the CSE rose 61.41 points to close at 8,068.32 points.

Turnover on the country’s premier bourse--- DSE rose 12.68 per cent to BDT 1.51 billion against BDT 1.34 billion in the previous session.

Of the 269 companies and mutual funds were traded and among them 186 issues increased, 52 decreased and 31 remained unchanged.

A total number of 0.048 million trades were executed on the DSE with 41.42 million shares of trading volume. The port city bourse traded 5.28 million shares and mutual fund units, with a turnover of BDT 164.80 million.

United Airways topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 139.54 million changing hands.

Reliance One was the day’s highest gainer posting a rise of 6.97 per cent  while Kohinoor Chemical slumped 6.18 per cent to become the worst loser.
