Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the upward trend at midday on Monday as investors continued their buying spree on sector-wise stocks ahead of monetary policy announcement.
Following the previous day’s positive note, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on positive note with trading activities remains low.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 8.12 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse advanced 7.82 points at 10:45am.
After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the DSE advanced nearly 35 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) gained 40 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 54 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index rose 166 points at 12:00 noon when the report was filed.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,201 points, advancing 54.03 points or 0.88 per cent at 12:00 noon.
The other indices also saw upward trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 25 points or 1.10 percent to reach at 2,285 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 18 points or 1.28 percent to reach at 1,428 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.15 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
Square Pharmaceuticals was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 368 million changing hands, followed by IFAD Autos BDT 173 million, Grameenphone BDT 89 million, Golden Harvest Agro Industries BDT 53 million and National Tubes BDT 50 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 167 advanced, 80 declined and 64 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – advancing 166 points to stand at 19,121 points, also at 12:00 noon.
The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 104 points to reach at 11,545 points till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 86 gained, 44 declined and 37 issues remained unchanged with BDT 100 million in turnover.
