Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks kept the upward trend at midday on Monday as investors continued their buying spree on sector specific shares.
Following the previous day’s mild correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher with increasing turnover value.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced nearly 16 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 5.20 points at 10:45am.
After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse rose more than 20 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 12 points at 11am.
After two hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE advanced 42 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 73 points when the report was filed at 12:30pm.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
After first half of the trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stands at 5,696 points, advancing 42 points or 0.74 percent at 12:30pm.
The two other indices also maintained the upward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips rose 16 points or 0.78 percent to reach at 2095 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 7.0 points or 0.52 percent to reach at 1,304 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.88 billion, when the report was filed at 12:30pm.
LankaBangla Finance was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 219 million changing hands followed by Regent Textile BDT 198 million, Beximco BDT 165 million, Nurani Dyeing BDT 161 million and Saif Powertec BDT 150 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 191 advanced, 84 declined and 45 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX –advancing 73 points to stand at 10,654 points, also at 12:30pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 120 gained, 52 declined and 31 issues remained unchanged with BDT 228 million in turnover.
BBN/SSR/SR
