Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – US stocks advanced throughout the week. The surge in equities was propelled by upbeat US company profits, which beat analyst estimates, and increased pending sales of existing US housing facilities.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached 9,280.97, a gain of 2.32 percent over last week. The NASDAQ Composite added 1.29 percent to 1,993.05 during the same period, according to reports.

Asian stocks also advanced during the week before dropping slightly on Wednesday. The initial rise in equities was caused by quarterly profits of Asian financial institutions. However due to reported losses of several Asian auto and technology companies stocks fell.

Overall, the Nikkei 225 closed Thursday at 10,328.06, a gain of 2.09 percent against last week. The BSE Sensex added 730 points or 4.81 percent to 15,903.83 over last week.
