Stocks see downtrend at opening amid hartal

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Share prices at the country’s both bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened with a negative note in early hours of trading on Tuesday amid countrywide hartal.

The DSE general index, DGEN lost 7.81 points or 0.18 per cent to reach 4,263.07 points at 11.15am. Of the issues traded till then, 36 advanced, 125 declined and 29 remained unchanged.

Turnover stood at BDT 306.76 million till the report was filed at 11.15am.

Newly listed Summit Purbanchol Power, which made debut trading Monday, topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 54.51 million changing hands till then.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange key index, CSCX also lost 27.41 points to stand at 8,232.62 points also at 11.15am. Of the issues traded then, 12 advanced, 68 declined and 9 remained unchanged till then.
