Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the positive trend at midday on Sunday as optimistic investors continued their buying spree on sector-wise stocks.

Following the last session’s upward movement, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse rose more than 16 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 10 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX gained more than 11 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse advanced 4.0 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 21 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index rose 55 points at 12:00 noon when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,383 points, advancing 21.36 points or 0.39 percent at 12:00 noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also gained 3.48 points to reach at 1929 points till then.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 7.43 points to stand at 1,268 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.15 billion when the report was filed at 12:00 noon, riding on newly listed Bashundhara paper Mills.

The newly listed Bashundhara Paper Mills was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 329 million changing hands, followed by Ratanpur Steel BDT 164 million, BBS Cables BDT 162 million, Alif Industries BDT 156 million and United Power BDT 118 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 184 advanced, 99 declined and 43 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse–gaining 55 points to stand at 16,559 points, also at 12:00 noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also rose 35 points to reach at 10,018 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 124 gained, 48 declined and 13 issues remained unchanged with BDT 176 million in turnover.
