Bangladesh’s stocks stay positive at midday Wednesday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the positive trend at midday on Wednesday as a section of investors continued to show their buying binge amid cautious trading.

Following the previous five days’ marginal gain, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed positive trend amid sluggish trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 14 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 10 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 19 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 22 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 31 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 55 points at 12:00 noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,331 points, advancing 31.49 points or 0.59 percent at 12:00 noon.

The two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 7.55 points to reach at 1,862 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 3.95 points to stand at 1,222 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.32 billion when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.

Khulna Power was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 64 million changing hands, closely followed by Fine Foods, Saiham Cotton Mills, JMI Syringes and Beximco Pharma.

Of the issues traded till then, 205 advanced, 81 declined and 43 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE

The port city’s bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE), also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse–advancing 55 points to stand at 16,277 points, also at 12:00 noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 34 points to reach at 9,845 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 93 gained, 68 declined and 28 issues remained unchanged with BDT 34 million in turnover.
