Bangladesh’s stocks stay positive at midday Tuesday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks stayed positive trend at midday on Tuesday as some investors continued their buying spree on sector-wise stocks ahead of monetary policy announcement.

Following the previous three days’ upturn, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on positive note, but trading activities remains low.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 10 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse gained 13 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the DSE advanced nearly 7.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) gained 11 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 5.0 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index rose 18 points at 12:00 noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,200 points, advancing 5.02 points or 0.08 per cent at 12:00 noon.

The other indices also saw positive trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 8.53 points or 0.37 percent to reach at 2,294 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 0.45 points or 0.03 percent to reach at 1,429 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 21.85 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.

Beximco Pharma was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 195 million changing hands, closely followed by Grameenphone BDT 181 million, Square Pharmaceuticals BDT 162 million, IFAD Autos BDT 150 million and BBS Cables BDT 66 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 122 advanced, 108 declined and 80 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – advancing 18 points to stand at 19,136 points, also at 12:00 noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 12 points to reach at 11,555 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 72 gained, 62 declined and 30 issues remained unchanged with BDT 65 million in turnover.
