Bangladesh’s stocks stay upbeat at midday Sunday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the positive trend at midday on Sunday as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap stocks encouraged by the government’s steps to mitigate the ongoing liquidity crunch.

Following the previous week’s sharp gain, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw positive trend in early trading amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse gained more than 37 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 39 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX gained more than 46 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse advanced 57 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 43 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 75 points at 12:00 noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,884 points, advancing 43.73 points or 0.72 percent at 12:00 noon.

The two other indices also saw upward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 16 points or 0.73 percent to reach at 2,210 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 6.28 points or 0.46 percent to stand at 1,363 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.63 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.

Beximco was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 223 million changing hands, closely followed by Alif Industries BDT 163 million, Monno Ceramic BDT 115 million, Brac Bank BDT 107 million and Salvo Chemicals BDT 77 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 217 advanced, 66 declined and 34 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – gaining 75 points to stand at 18,093 points, also at 12:00 noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 45 points to reach at 10,936 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 108 gained, 38 declined and 16 issues remained unchanged with BDT 90 million in turnover.
